We are excited to invite you to our IT@GT 101 training course. This 3-hour course is designed to provide a high-level overview of services and systems used by IT staff at Georgia Tech. Attendees receive an introduction that will demonstrate the complexities that exist across Institute systems. This course is intended for new IT staff or student workers to Georgia Tech.

With the arrival of President Cabrera, Georgia Tech will begin a new process of strategic planning. Juana Cunningham will facilitate a discussion to gather input from the IT community to shape Georgia Tech’s future. Jim McGarrah will introduce the session.

Director of Digital Strategy Louise Russo will provide updates on GT’s progress in adopting Drupal 8, implementing the new theme, and related topics. OIT’s Nan Deeprasert will provide a brief update on future possibilities for OIT’s webhosting service. (25 minutes)

Learn more about ACE, whose mission is to encourage knowledge sharing and the development of best automation practices. This includes improving awareness, providing training opportunities for participants, suggesting documentation guidelines, and the establishment of a central code repository.

OIT Senior Technical Product Owner Kim Kruthaup will give an overview of Microsoft Teams and discuss certain use-cases. Have you ever had a group request “intranet” functionality — i.e., an easily-to-use place for private content allowing file sharing, informational posts, and other collaborative features? You might have considered a WordPress or Drupal site for this but would prefer something more targeted for this kind of need; you might have considered Sharepoint but found the technology daunting. (25 minutes)

  • OIT Digital Learning team members Victor Bolet and Tami Salz will showcase useful Canvas integrations and Eduapps tools, including the new Combine Course tool, Respondus Lock-Down Browser, and GT Cloud Labs (35 mins)

Identity Management @ GT 101

Tips-n-Tricks Community-n-Coffee

This session is meant to be a relatively informal session where community members can bring small items of interest that others may not know about — for example. using the “sign” feature of MacOS Preview to sign documents. Nothing staggering — just sharing items that you use but think others may not know about. Bring one or two of your favorite handy techniques to share!
